This project aims to create synthetic materials that mimic the adaptive characteristics of living organisms by encoding dynamic principles in DNA. By developing reconfigurable DNA nanostructures, the project seeks to enable materials that can autonomously respond to stimuli and perform complex functions.
Synthetic materials exist in a broad variety of sizes, shapes and compositions leading to an impressive breadth of useful functions but tend to be case-specific.
Living matter, in contrast, has the remarkable capability to sense, evolve, transform and adapt.
