This project addresses the challenge of parallel programming in modern computing. It aims to develop domain-specific languages that facilitate high levels of parallelism, integrating them into a common host language to optimize performance across diverse hardware.
Concurrent and parallel programming are becoming indispensable forexploiting modern hardware.
Because possible speed increases of singleprocessors have reached their limit, increasing transistor count willyield more, but not necessarily faster cores, and this for theforeseeable future.
This means that, from now on, parallelism insoftware will have to double every 18 months to keep up withhardware.
