This project aims to develop a micro-scale additive manufacturing system capable of producing objects with features as small as a few micrometers. It explores applications in microfluidics and medical technology, focusing on cost-effective production methods.
This proposal presents a development project for a micro scale Additive Manufacturing (AM) system. AM systems can take computer designed or scanned files describing 3-dimensional shapes and make physical (often plastic or metallic ) objects.
Typical AM systems make objects that have feature sizes suitable for human interaction; the low end being a fraction of a millimeter.
The proposal presents research into systems that are capable to smaller features down to few micrometer sizes.
