This project focuses on utilizing high-quality synthetic diamond for advanced laser engineering. By leveraging diamond's exceptional thermal conductivity and optical properties, the team aims to develop innovative laser designs that are more efficient and compact, with applications in science, energy, and medicine.
Over the last three years, synthetic single crystal diamond with high optical quality has become available for the first time.
The time is thus ripe to exploit this unique material for laser engineering.
