The DIABETESMART project focuses on creating an advanced mobile application for diabetes management. It integrates artificial intelligence to provide personalized recommendations and connects with medical devices, aiming to improve self-care for diabetes patients.
Diabetes mellitus, a common chronic disease that is associated with high blood glucose (also called blood sugar) can lead to potentially fatal health complications.
Globally, 415 million people were diagnosed with diabetes in 2015, estimated to reach 642 million by 2040.
In Europe disease prevalence is high, 66 million people were diagnosed in 2017, estimate to reach 81 million people by 2045, with 28,200 children (bellow 19 years old) diagnosed each year.
