This project explores innovative strategies to deliver therapeutics to the brain by targeting the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier. It aims to validate a novel antibody that could enhance drug delivery for treating central nervous system disorders, potentially improving therapeutic outcomes for conditions like brain c…
CNS disorders, e.g. brain cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, are the most common, debilitating, and underserved diseases. CNS drugs have historically suffered from considerably lower success rates during development than those for non-CNS indications.
One of the major reasons is the presence of CNS barriers, including the blood-brain (BBB) and blood-cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) barrier.
These blood-brain interfaces severely restrict the cerebral bioavailability of pharmaceutical compounds.
