This project explores innovative solid-state cooling technologies, particularly elastocalorics, to create more efficient and sustainable cooling systems. It focuses on integrating electro-active-polymer actuators to enhance the performance of these systems for applications in medical, automotive, and aerospace fields.
While the global demand for cooling is rising exponentially with growing data center capacities and space cooling demands in highly populated regions (China, India, Indonesia), there is no alternative to inefficient and environmentally harmful vapor-compression systems.
