This project examines the role of data activism in response to massive data collection by governments and corporations. It explores how citizens and social movements leverage big data for social change and civil rights.
With the diffusion of ‘big data’, citizens become increasingly aware of the critical role of information in modern societies.
This awareness gives rise to new social practices rooted in technology and data, which I term ‘data activism’.
