CytaCoat is a novel antimicrobial coating designed to prevent microbial colonization on medical devices, reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections. It uses non-toxic, biocompatible compounds and can be applied to various medical devices, starting with neonatal nasal prongs.
The aim of the current project is to develop a strong business plan that includes market analysis and clinical validation strategies to commercialise CytaCoat. 1 in 18 patients in a European hospital acquire Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) mainly as a result of colonisation and formation of microbial biofilms on the surface of medical devices that are in lengthy contact with patients.
