This project develops a new technology using cyanobacteria to sustainably restore and preserve outdoor stone monuments. The approach aims to enhance environmental safety and effectiveness in cultural heritage conservation while promoting green practices.
Outdoor stone monuments in Europe and beyond can't be preserved with conventional consolidation methods without risking short-/long-term drawbacks from detrimental interventions or compromising the environment and the health of the curators.
