The CULPRIT-SHOCK trial investigates treatment strategies for patients experiencing cardiogenic shock due to acute myocardial infarction. It compares the outcomes of treating only the immediate cause of shock versus addressing additional significant coronary lesions.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI) represents a major European health care concern with mortality rates between 40-70%.
