This project investigates the formation of cratonic sedimentary basins, which are vital records of Earth's tectonic history. By exploring the relationship between these basins and mantle convection, the research aims to understand continental stability and the geological processes involved in supercontinent cycles.
Fundamental to our understanding of the Earth is the theory of plate tectonics.
This predicts that throughout the Earth’s history the continents have converged to form large continental assemblies and subsequently broken apart and dispersed.
