This project aims to understand the transmission dynamics of malaria through gametocytes. It investigates the timing of gametocyte production and the factors influencing their infectivity, using advanced assays to analyze malaria stages in human blood.
Background:
One of the major challenges for malaria control and elimination is the phenomenally efficient spread of malaria through sexual stage malaria parasites (gametocytes).
