CoQuake explores a novel method to control earthquakes by inducing them at lower energy levels. The project uses advanced simulations and experimental setups to investigate fault systems, aiming to reduce seismic risks and associated damages.
According to the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), earthquakes are responsible for more than half of the total human losses due to natural disasters from 1994 to 2003.
There is no doubt that earthquakes are lethal and costly.
