COOPERATE focuses on improving energy performance in neighborhoods by integrating monitoring and control systems with cloud services. The project aims to create energy-positive neighborhoods through innovative energy management solutions, validated at two sites in France and Ireland.
Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of EU CO2 emissions, whilst the transportation sector is responsible for about 30% of the EU CO2 emissions.
Achieving energy performance of neighbourhoods, including buildings, transportation systems and other supporting systems, is key to achieving the EU Climate & Energy objectives, namely a reduction of 20% of greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 levels by 2020 and a 20% energy savings in primary energy use by 2020.
