This project investigates how sensory information is transformed into perception using the rat whisker system. It aims to understand the neuronal processes that convert physical stimuli into recognizable objects.
Our sensory systems gather stimuli as elemental physical features yet we perceive a world made up of familiar objects, not wavelengths or vibrations.
