This project explores the social and economic implications of combat trauma in Israel, the United States, and the Netherlands. It combines ethnographic research with clinical practices to understand how trauma is perceived and treated across different cultures.
This project is an anthropological study of combat trauma in three Western nations:
Israel, the United States, and the Netherlands.
Trauma means different things to different actors, and acquires a different value (both economic and social) in different therapeutic settings.
Research will examine how clinical notions of combat trauma are established, adapted, resisted or internalized in different nations.
