This project investigates statistical solutions for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and incompressible Euler equations. It aims to establish global existence and uniqueness of these solutions, develop efficient numerical methods, and apply findings to fields such as astrophysics and climate science.
Entropy (admissible) weak solutions are widely considered to be the standard solution framework for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and incompressible Euler equations.
However, the lack of global existence results in several space dimensions, the recent demonstration of non-uniqueness of these solutions and computations showing the lack of convergence of state of the art numerical methods to them, have reinforced the need to seek alternative solution paradigms.
