The project focuses on developing a blood test for the early detection of colorectal cancer by identifying specific autoantibodies. This non-invasive test aims to improve early diagnosis, reduce mortality rates, and lower healthcare costs associated with late-stage cancer treatment.
A recent epidemiology of colorectal cancer (CRC) report demonstrated a significant CRC burden in European countries, which is still associated with very high mortality rates.
The overall objective of the project is the development and commercialization of a test for the early detection of CRC based on the detection and measurement of cancer-specific autoantibodies present in blood of patients.
