COCOS aims to harmonize carbon cycle data across various international research communities. The project focuses on improving data interoperability and conducting assessments of carbon balances in land and ocean ecosystems to enhance global carbon monitoring efforts.
COCOS will assess the status of harmonization of key carbon cycle variables with international partners.
It will improve the interoperability of data sets that are used in global scale carbon cycle studies through joint activities between ecosystem, atmospheric and ocean bottom-up and top down observation communities. COCOS will also perform integrated regional-scale multiple constraint assessments of the land and ocean carbon balance through the use of harmonized data sets.
