This project investigates the relationship between forest management practices and their impact on carbon storage and biodiversity in temperate forests. It aims to assess whether strategies to enhance carbon stocks also support biodiversity conservation, providing insights for better forest management policies.
Intact forests harbor large amounts of carbon and unique biodiversity, suggesting that protecting forests may benefit climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation alike.
Yet, forests also provide other essential services, from timber to energy to recreation.
