CLOUDLAB investigates cloud microphysics by injecting ice nucleating particles into supercooled stratus clouds to enhance precipitation and understand ice formation. Utilizing drones and advanced measurement techniques, the project aims to improve weather forecasting and climate projections in Switzerland.
Clouds have been seeded since the 1940s.
Aimed at inducing weather modification, the method uses chemicals to alter the microphysical processes within a cloud to enhance precipitation, suppress hail, or dissipate fog.
