This project investigates the ecological impact of climate change on temporary rivers in Europe, focusing on how variations in water flow affect aquatic and terrestrial communities. It aims to enhance understanding of the relationship between flow intermittence and biodiversity in these ecosystems.
Assessments of global patterns of climate change forecast a general increase of temperature and changes in precipitation.
It seems that floods and droughts would become more severe and frequent across Europe, thus increasing the proportion of rivers with mediterranean characteristics in actually temperate areas.
