This project investigates the evolution of early Christianity in the Eastern Mediterranean, focusing on the relationship between the Syrian and Georgian Churches. It aims to create a comprehensive framework for understanding cultural interactions and theological developments in late antiquity.
The proposed research is intended to initiate the process of formulating an integrated approach to the evolution and spread of early Christianity in the Eastern Mediterranean, Caucasus and Middle East.
Thus far this work has been constrained by geographical, linguistic and denominational boundaries meaning that there has been a plethora of regional studies in the field but no comprehensive overview attempting to develop a coherent picture of wider cultural interaction.
