The Circanycyte project investigates the interaction between specific brain neurons and tanycytes, focusing on how this communication affects metabolism and circadian rhythms. It aims to uncover mechanisms that contribute to metabolic disorders in individuals with circadian misalignment, such as shift workers.
The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the brain, our internal clock, synchronizes physiology to the Earths rotation using signals from the environment such as light and food intake.
