This project studies the population dynamics of hominins during the Late Pleistocene, focusing on Neanderthal extinction. It employs advanced archaeological and genetic methods to understand the environmental and behavioral factors influencing these dynamics.
CHRONOPOP will elucidate regional Late Pleistocene hominin population dynamics and the disappearance of Neanderthals.
It will do so by establishing the chronology and environmental context of the late Middle Paleolithic (MP) in the Armenian Highlands.
