This project examines the role of the vagus nerve in regulating immune responses in the gastrointestinal tract. It aims to explore how vagus nerve stimulation can modulate inflammation and tolerance, with potential therapeutic applications for gastrointestinal disorders.
In the gastrointestinal tract, the balance between activation of the mucosal immune system and tolerance should be tightly regulated to maintain immune homeostasis to prevent chronic inflammation and tissue damage.
