ChemPET aims to improve the recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) by developing a chemical recycling process that converts waste PET into a reusable monomer. This innovation seeks to enhance sustainability and reduce reliance on fossil fuels in the PET production chain.
The massive industrial use of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) poses serious economic and environmental problems due to its poor recyclability.
Current PET disposal options include incineration, landfilling and recycling while a relevant amount is still dumped into oceans.
