This project investigates the factors influencing the structure of mollusc shells by analyzing both fossil and modern specimens using advanced imaging techniques. It aims to understand how shell microstructures have evolved and adapted over time, particularly in response to predation pressures.

These are our primary research questions, and to answer them we will employ transmission and scanning electron microscopy (including x-ray and backscattered electron diffraction) to collect new information on mostly fossil but also modern molluscs.
