This research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms that govern the development and integration of specific neuron types in the cerebellum. By analyzing transcriptional programs and cellular differentiation, the project seeks to enhance understanding of cerebellar function and its disorders.
The cerebellum is a critical regulator of motor function, which acts to integrate ongoing body states, sensory inputs and desired outcomes to adjust motor output.
This motor control is achieved by a relatively small number of neuron types receiving two main sources of inputs and forming a single output pathway, the axons of Purkinje cells.
