This project investigates the challenges faced by China's electricity industry, including power supply, efficiency, and pollution reduction. It aims to provide quantitative evidence and insights through collaboration between academic experts and a small business to support sustainable development in the sector.
The electricity industry in China, the second in the world, has to meet three sometimes incompatible challenges: to supply the fast growing economy with enough power; to improve the technical and cost efficiency of power plants; and finally, to reduce the health-damaging impactof its coal-fired power plans, which are one of the biggest pollution sources in the World.
