The CatGTP project focuses on converting crude glycerol, a by-product of biodiesel production, into biopropylene through a one-step catalytic process. It aims to enhance the efficiency of catalysts and optimize the hydrodeoxygenation process, addressing the need for alternative feedstocks in the chemical industry.
The CatGTP project aims at valorising crude glycerol, which is a by-product of world-scale biodiesel industry. I will develop an innovative one-step catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) route for upgrading crude glycerol-to-biopropylene (GTP), thus contributing to overcome the challenge of olefins feedstock shortage and diversification in EU.
