The CARDINAL project aims to create a 3D model of cardiac muscle using human stem cells to improve drug screening for cardiovascular diseases. By replicating the heart's natural structure, it seeks to enhance the predictivity of drug responses compared to traditional 2D models.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide.
Chronic treatments of CVDs are scarce because of poor predictivity of current two-dimensional (2D) pre-clinical models.
