The CARBONWEB project examines the role of soil food webs in regulating carbon storage in soils across various ecosystems. It aims to quantify how soil animals influence microbial functions and carbon stabilization, providing insights into soil health and biogeochemical processes.
Soil food webs process 90% of the terrestrial primary production and regulate the second largest carbon pool on Earth – soil organic matter.
