The Calcifer project investigates the internal dynamics of intermediate-mass stars using asteroseismology to understand angular momentum transport. By studying stellar oscillations, it aims to develop models that explain the evolution of these stars and improve our ability to date astronomical objects.
While stellar evolution has been considered one of the most well-understood astrophysical processes for decades, a massive revolution is in motion thanks to probes of dynamical processes in stellar interiors with asteroseismology.
Through this study of stellar oscillations, core rotation-rate measurements point out a very efficient extraction of angular momentum in the depths of stars.
