This project explores the reintegration of disabled veterans in Italy after World War I, focusing on their experiences and the societal responses to their challenges. It aims to contribute to a broader understanding of war disability in Europe.
This innovative project aims to investigate the return to civilian life, throughout the interwar period (1917-1939), of servicemen who had been physically injured on the battlefields of the First World War.
It will focus on Italy to develop an interdisciplinary, multi-scalar, and transnational approach to the rehabilitation and reintegration of disabled veterans.
The project will thus lay the foundation for a truly European history of war disability in the twentieth-century.
