The project focuses on developing a semiconductor laser source for use in a Differential-Absorption Lidar system to monitor greenhouse gases. It aims to create a compact, efficient laser that can accurately measure atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations over long distances.
The availability of suitable laser sources is one of the key issues for the development of active optical instruments in future earth observation missions.
