This project develops new biomaterials for bone repair that mimic the hierarchical structure of natural bone. It focuses on creating organic/apatite hybrid materials and evaluating their mechanical properties for potential use in regenerative medicine.
Conventional orthopedic implants and dental filling approaches are only partly successful in preventing load-bearing failures and long-term durability, respectively.
