BLOCKADE examines the impact of blockades during the world wars, analyzing their effects on resources, societies, and international relations. The project aims to connect the histories of both wars by exploring the resilience and vulnerabilities they exposed, while integrating diverse perspectives and methodologies.
The main aim of BLOCKADE is to investigate how blockades shaped the course, outcome and aftermath of the world wars.
In both wars, belligerents sought to blockade their enemies, cutting them off from vital resources such as food, oil, information and capital to hasten their defeat.
