The Lignocellulosic BioRefinery project seeks to enhance the value of wood waste by developing a non-degrading separation process for cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. This innovative approach aims to increase profitability for forestry operations and promote sustainable resource use.
The concept of the Lignocellulosic BioRefinery (LCBR) is gaining ground in the EU, as a way to increase the value obtained from wood waste such as sawdust and chippings, from €50/tonne to potentially as much as €500/tonne.
