This project focuses on developing bio-oxidation processes using cytochrome P450 enzymes to oxidize alcohols and fatty acid derivatives. The goal is to enhance industrial biotechnology applications by creating environmentally friendly chemical manufacturing methods.
Currently the aerobic bio-catalytic oxidation reaction is the one that would have the biggest impact on the future uptake of industrial biotechnology in Europe.
Chemical oxidation is both hazardous and has high environment impacts.
