The BIOCLIMA project studies the effects of climate change on microbial life in ancient marine environments, specifically during the Late Miocene. It aims to understand how microorganisms adapted to extreme conditions and contribute to knowledge about past life on Earth and Mars.
The BIOCLIMA project will explore the impact of climate change on microbial biodiversity in semi-enclosed basins in order to decipher ecosystem response to environmental crises, at a temporal scale much longer than that of human life.
