The BioAge project aims to understand how aging affects the ribcage's structure and mechanics, increasing the risk of rib fractures in older adults during car accidents. By improving the accuracy of human body models, the project seeks to enhance safety measures in the automotive industry for elderly passengers.
The older adult population is the fastest growing segment in many OECD countries where one in every four persons will be aged 65 or over by 2030.
This population is placing demands for safe transportation to maintain mobility.
