The project develops a novel bi-lamellar lipid vesicle to study proteins that span double membranes, such as those in bacteria. Utilizing microfluidic technology, it aims to understand the function of a specific multidrug efflux pump, advancing techniques for protein research.
Double membranes are ubiquitous throughout the domains of life, accommodating remarkable protein machineries which are fundamental to the cellular activity.
However, the study of these proteins is restricted by the lack of a suitable membrane model to accommodate them.
