The BEYOND project investigates the impact of the 1951 Refugee Convention on countries that have not signed it, focusing on their role in shaping international refugee law. It aims to understand how these states engage with refugee protection despite their non-party status.
Many of the world’s top refugee-hosting countries have neither signed nor ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention.
