This project focuses on developing advanced imaging techniques to accurately measure beta-cell mass in the pancreas, which is crucial for understanding diabetes. By utilizing innovative tracers and imaging technologies, the aim is to enhance diagnosis and pave the way for new diabetes therapies.
The development of sensitive, non-invasive methods for the characterisation and quantification of beta-cell mass would greatly enhance our means for gaining understanding of the pathophysiology of diabetes and allow the development of novel therapies to prevent, halt and reverse the disease.
