The BASE project explores the effects of biochar application on soil in natural ecosystems to enhance carbon storage and improve soil quality. It employs a multidisciplinary approach to understand the ecological impacts of biochar.
Wide scale biochar has been proposed as a method of increasing soil carbon storage and so mitigating climate change while concurrently providing biofuel and positively affecting soil quality.
