This project focuses on advancing nonlinear photonics using atomically-engineered two-dimensional van der Waals superlattices. The project aims at introducing a paradigm shift in the development of nonlinear photonics with atomically-engineered two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals superlattices (2DSs).
Monolayer 2D materials have large optical nonlinear susceptibilities, a few orders of magnitude larger than typical traditional bulk materials.
