This project explores the role of heme and heme-containing proteins in the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which contributes to atherosclerosis. It focuses on the mechanisms by which these proteins may influence cardiovascular disease development.
Atherosclerosis is the underlying process leading to the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases that accounts for one-third the world’s mortality.
