This project catalogs and analyzes textile terminology from the Neo-Assyrian period to understand the economic and cultural significance of textiles in ancient societies. It employs an interdisciplinary approach, linking textual evidence with visual and archaeological data.
The project, framed in the research programme Textile Terminologies 1000 BC to AD 1000 of the Centre for Textile Research, will catalogue and investigate the textile terminology in use in the Neo-Assyrian period (first millennium BC).
